Het Nieuwe Instituut
3015 CB Rotterdam
Reopening 1 June
Welcome (back) to Het Nieuwe Instituut! We ask all our visitors to strive for a safe and comfortable space so that together we can create a shared environment where everyone – at 1.5 metres distance – feels free to enjoy the experience in their own way. We encourage our visitors to be sociable, despite the Covid-19 measures, and to take curiosity and creativity as their starting point.
We also ask for your understanding in following a number of essential guidelines before and during your visit.
How to get here
Located in the heart of Rotterdam, Het Nieuwe Instituut is about a 15-minute walk from Rotterdam CS train station. The institute is part of the Museumpark and is diagonally opposite the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum.
Getting to Het Nieuwe Instituut using public transport is easy. You can take the metro (to Eendrachtsplein), tram 7 (to Eendrachtsplein or Museumpark), tram 4 (to Eendrachtsplein) or bus 44 (to Wytemaweg).
Paid on-street parking in the vicinity of Het Nieuwe Instituut is limited, but the Museumpark car park is situated opposite. Save money on one or two hours parking in Rotterdam. Rotterdam city council provides special parking tickets, available on the website Parking in Rotterdam.
Book your entrance ticket online in advance, even if you have a Museum Card or other discount card.
If you just want to visit the cafe or the bookstore, you can book a free ticket.
Telephone and email
Het Nieuwe Instituut is a space where everyone can feel welcome. We prioritize accessibility, so if you need personal assistance, kindly ask a member of our hospitality team or send an email in advance to: email@example.com. We are happy to help you!
Only for You
After months of living on a digital diet, we want to reflect on the added value of a physical visit and the specific context that only an exhibition can provide. For the regular price of a ticket, a single time slot of 30 minutes is available every day for a solo visitor. The exhibition rooms I and II, Sonneveld House and the bookshop will be reserved for you for half an hour. Then we ask you to share your experiences with us. How? By simply talking to staff members about them. Because what does uniqueness and exclusivity mean for a visitor to Het Nieuwe Instituut?
